Rising Star Games are set to bring Rygar: The Battle for Argus to European Wii’s this very day, and so this week’s Retro Review is a pleasingly topical selection; Tecmo’s Rygar: The Legendary Adventure for the PlayStation2. Released back in 2003, Rygar: The Legendary Adventure was welcomed by critics, but it’s placement on European shop shelves resulted in the title going largely unnoticed in the territory. With Tecmo having decided to redesign the title for Nintendo’s incredibly successful Wii, they quite clearly believe the poor sales of the PlayStation2 version were unwarranted, and when playing through the original release, you may well find it hard to disagree with them.

A new record was set at DreamHack Stockholm on Monday 15th June for the "most kills in Counter-Strike (Valve, 2003) in 12 hours". The record is 518 and was achieved by Björn "Threat" Pers (Sweden) at DreamHack Summer 2009, Jönköping, Sweden. This new record will be shortlisted for inclusion in the next Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition to be published in Spring 2010. The Gamer’s Edition 2009 is already available and can be found in all the good bookstores.

Fight Night Round 4 has released in Europe under a great deal of anticipation. Highlighted early-on by many as the best Boxing videogame on the Current-Generation, Fight Night Round 3 may have a missed a few of its’ punches, but it’s pretty much had the ring all to itself. Electronic Arts’ own Facebreaker managed to achieve the same level of impact, despite its release on many more formats, and 2K Games’ Don King’s Boxing unfortunately failed to impress on many fronts. And with that, Fight Night Round 4’s only real challenge is to welcome the newcomers, without aggravating the fans.
