Videogames specialist retailer GAME has announced its biggest lock-in series of all time, with seventy five stores opening late to give gamers exclusive early access to forthcoming blockbuster The Last of Us, weeks ahead of the games official release date. The lock-ins, in partnership with PlayStation, will take place between 3rd May 2013, and 9th June, providing the UK gaming community with more coverage and more destinations than ever before.
As if the opportunity to experience a post-apocalyptic America, where you will battle all manner of monstrous infected and crazed survivors wasn’t enough, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) will be providing attendees with food and refreshments to keep the survivors nourished while outside the quarantined zone. Customers who attend can also pick-up a double-sided The Last of Us poster when they pre-order the videogame, while stocks last. Customers who have already pre-ordered The Last of Us can bring along their deposit slip to collect their free poster.
Gamers can register for the lock-ins at their nearest participating store, either in person or by phone, or by sending their local store a tweet to be in with a chance of taking part in the action. Spaces are limited; customers must be aged eighteen or over and will be chosen on a first-come, first-served basis.
Charlotte Knight, Category Director at GAME said: “We’re thrilled to be able to up our game and bring lock-ins to a record-breaking seventy five stores. We’ve been building up our lock-in series over the last few months and have been getting great feedback from gamers and publishers alike so we’re really excited to be able to bring these latest lock-ins to even more gamers. Community-based events are a key part of our strategy and we’re always looking to make them better so bringing The Last of Us to seventy five stores is a real landmark and I can’t wait to see the results.”
The Last of Us lock-ins will take place at seventy five stores across the country, throughout May. Dates and locations can be found below, and Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with all the latest lock-ins held at GAME stores in the UK.
