Weekly Recap May 12th: $99 Xbox 360, More Disc-Locked Content, ACTA Dead?

12 May, 2012
By

Wow what a week in news. Okay, so first up ACTA is labeled as “effectively dead” but don’t buy into it! It’s not actually dead yet, there’s still a good ways to go before it’s completely destroyed. Also, CISPA…yes, CISPA is another vile piece of legislative garbage we need to get vetoed into a digital waste bin as soon as possible. Don’t let Congress get this thing passed under your nose. On a less political note (but equally vile stature) there is effectively more disc-locked content appearing in games. In result, gamers are now being put in the cross-hairs for even more anti-consumerist measures. Also, beware of the $99 Xbox 360 bundle because you’ll actually pay more for it in the end. And BioWare, we still love you baby. These stories and more in this May 12th, 2012 edition of the Gaming Blend Weekly Recap here at Electronic Theatre. Read More…

Weekly Recap March 10th: SimCity Reboot, Capcom’s DLC Fiasco, Halo 4 Assets

10 March, 2012
By

What a week in news, eh? EA and BioWare launch Mass Effect 3 to massive sales and a lot of positive reviews while being marred by one of the same criticisms that Capcom has come under fire for…on-disc DLC. The fiasco for Capcom has escalated quite a bit as nearly an entire third of Street Fighter X Tekken‘s content is disc-locked requiring payment to access. Whether that gets you fuming or not, 343 Industries lightened the mood with some Halo 4 assets giving gamers the first look at a new and improved Master Chief.
