Valve To Present Opening Keynote at Develop

Videogames Found to Promote Cooperation not Aggression

A study conducted by researchers at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden has found that video games promote cooperation and encourage gamers to control aggression. The study sought to gauge which, if any, gamer behaviours could be attributed to their video game play and was published in the March edition of the International Journal of Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning.

The Elder Scrolls Online Debut Trailer Revealed

Bethesda Softworks, a ZeniMax Media company, recently announced that The Elder Scrolls Online, a massively multiplayer online (MMO) videogame set in the hugely popular The Elder Scrolls universe, is in development for PC and MAC formats. Today, the retailer Amazon.co.uk has announced that the second instalment of the Call of Duty: Black Ops series has achieved more than three times the orders received for 2010’s Call of Duty: Black Ops in the first twenty four hours.

NecroVision Dev Partners with Nordic Games for New Project

Nordic Games GmbH has today announced an agreement with The Farm 51, an experienced development studio responsible for the NecroVision series, Time Ace and contributions to Two Worlds II. Furthermore, members of the team at The Farm 51 have previously worked on smash hits such as Painkiller and The Witcher. Nordic Games and The Farm 51 have already begun working on an unannounced title.

Jane Jensen Launches Community Funded Adventure Videogame Studio

Electronic Theatre ImageVideogame designer Jane Jensen and composer Robert Holmes have announced the formation of Pinkerton Road, a new studio devoted to developing adventure videogames. The independent studio will use a unique “community supported gaming” model to make Jensen’s distinctive videogames available to subscribers, along with exclusive behind-the-scenes involvement in the videogames’ development. Pinkerton Road will be headquartered on the couple’s Pennsylvania farm.
