Prior to launch, Electronic Theatre had the opportunity to go hands-on the now released Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games for Nintendo’s Wii, which the whole team enjoyed. However, it’s now the turn of the Nintendo 3DS to host the latest title in the popular series, a title which will be released this month for all those eager Nintendo 3DS owners who want to get into the Olympic spirit early.

Following on from their BAFTA winning success with Professor Layton and the Curious Village, Nintendo have been showcasing the second game in the series at this years’ Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box exclusively on Nintendo DS. With the first title still performing strongly at UK retail – a brand new bundle set for release on Friday, 12th June – it’s not surprising that a European release is yet to be confirmed.

With the PlayStation Portable release breaking continually breaking records for SEGA in Japan, it’s no surprise the publisher would want to emulate that success on the NintendoDS; that’s it arriving before the end of the year in Japan, however, is clearly the result of some incredibly astute forward-thinking by the company.
