Electronic Theatre ImagePrior to launch,  Electronic Theatre had the opportunity to go hands-on the now released Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games for Nintendo’s Wii, which the whole team enjoyed. However, it’s now the turn of the Nintendo 3DS to host the latest title in the popular series, a title which will be released this month for all those eager Nintendo 3DS owners who want to get into the Olympic spirit early.

            Set to launch in 2012, Resident Evil: Revelations remains one of the core demographic titles that is farthest from release despite having been revealed alongside the console itself. Of course, the development of a brand new, full length edition of the traditional Resident Evil experience is likely to take longer to develop than a beat-‘em-up, racing game or remake of a cherished classic, and in the preview build Electronic Theatre played, that time is being well spent.

            The Nintendo 3DS may be available at retailers across the globe, and finally gaining some momentum through respectable software releases, but that doesn’t mean the original Nintendo DS line of consoles is now forgotten about. With an excess of one hundred million potential customers, any publisher willing to overlook that market would be very foolish indeed. Mastertronic isn’t making any such mistakes however, bringing a new title in one of the most popular genres on one of the most popular formats to market this summer.

            Despite being limited to a technical demonstration at present, Mario Kart 3DS (working title) managed to garner a great deal of attention from attendees both at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) back in June, and last month at Nintendo’s UK unveiling of the Nintendo 3DS console. And quite unsurprisingly, as after six console and two arcade outings, the Mario Kart formula remains as compulsive now as it was back in 1992.

Resident Evil: Revelations Debut Trailer Revealed

Following last week’s announcement that Capcom currently has two titles, Resident Evil: Revelations and Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition (tentative title), in development for the Nintendo 3DS, the first trailer for Resident Evil: Revelations has been released. Featuring appearances from Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine the trailer is rendered in real time using the game engine.

            Nintendo’s new handheld system, the Nintendo 3DS, has undoubtedly caused a storm at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). Having been announced over a month before it’s unveiling earlier this week, the Nintendo 3DS was showcased on the show floor at this year’s show with a number of titles both in video form and playable. Thankfully, the forthcoming follow-up to the Nintendo DS sensation Nintendogs, known as Nintendogs + Cats, was one of the latter.

            Ahead of its launch next month, Nintendo have been touring Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies throughout the UK as part of its Nintendo Unleashed tour. Taking a pit-stop at the London MCM Expo last month, many of those eagerly anticipating the English language release of one of Japan’s most popular titles of 2010 were able to get a first glimpse at the final game, and Electronic Theatre was there to bring you this report.

Electronic Theatre Preview: Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box

Following on from their BAFTA winning success with Professor Layton and the Curious Village, Nintendo have been showcasing the second game in the series at this years’ Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box exclusively on Nintendo DS. With the first title still performing strongly at UK retail – a brand new bundle set for release on Friday, 12th June – it’s not surprising that a European release is yet to be confirmed.

Electronic Theatre Image            With Phantasy Star Portable  having just been confirmed for a European launch in early 2009, we thought it was about time we took a look at the title’s NintendoDS sibling, Phantasy Star Zero. With the PlayStation Portable release breaking continually breaking records for SEGA in Japan, it’s no surprise the publisher would want to emulate that success on the NintendoDS; that’s it arriving before the end of the year in Japan, however, is clearly the result of some incredibly astute forward-thinking by the company.
