Electronic Theatre In-depth Review: Outcry

As part of the initial sweep of titles set to launch under Mamba Games’ Odyssia brand, Outcry is an interesting proposition. At once nostalgic and charmingly inventive, more than often passé and yet progressive in many areas Outcry make be symbolic of an uncertain first step, but it holds just as much promise for that which is to come.

Tripware Interactive’s Killing Floor has been brought to retail by the growing Iceberg Interactive.             The latest of Telltale Games’ episodic gaming releases, following-on from the highly successful Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures, as a hark back to what some consider the glory days of Point-N’-Click Adventure games. Reuniting the talent responsible for the original Monkey Island releases, Tales of Monkey Island: Launch of The Screaming Narwhal is much more than a simple remake or update of the series, indeed this latest release is invigoratingly fresh.

Restaurant Empire II has launched in the UK ready for that wonderful British Summertime we all know and love, filled with rain and thunderstorms. With the barbeque season approaching full swing, all those UK gamers preparing for their culinary delights may find themselves locked in doors flipping burgers on the grill pan as opposed to over open flames with far too much regularity, and so enter Restaurant Empire II, the game intent on easing the loss of the opportunity to indulge in undercooked meat products and possibly a quick call to the fire brigade.

Electronic Theatre In-depth Review: Trine

13 July, 2009
By

Electronic Theatre Image

Trine has been picked-up by the long-time gaming community as a title from which to draw inspiration. Even prior to release, as is often the case in the videogames industry, Trine has been thrown about with abandon as a title with which to argue the merits of 2D gaming, and that not only does it still have it’s place in the industry, but can stand-up to the big budgets forcibly in place with multi-million selling 3D releases. There comes a danger, however, that by touting Trine to be the next leap in 2D gaming, should it not be the pinnacle of Platform perfection upon release, it would be easy to deem such a game as “underachieving”.

Electronic Theatre In-depth Review: Sword of the Stars Ultimate Collection

Sword of the Stars Ultimate Collection has recently arrived at European retail. Hoping to expand upon the fanbase of the well received original title by including the full game, along with every subsequent expansion, and offering the package at a wallet-friendly price, Sword of the Stars Ultimate Collection’s greatest strength may also be its greatest weakness; it isn’t designed for a quick ten-minute play.

Electronic Theatre In-depth Review: Velvet Assassin

Velvet Assassin has garnered a great deal of coverage since its original unveiling. For a game with a seemingly average Current-Generation budget and both a developer and publisher that would be considered relatively small in comparison to their competition, gathering such attention is praiseworthy in itself. Being able to deliver a game capable of pleasing all these outlets and their respective audiences is a more complicated matter, as Velvet Assassin has since proved.

Electronic Theatre In-depth Review: Wallace and Gromit’s Grand Adventures: Episode 3 – Muzzled!

Electronic Theatre Image - Runes of Magic Blip

The third episode in Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures, Muzzled!, is now available to purchase on PC. Following two successful previous episode releases and an arrival on Xbox LIVE! Arcade, this third instalment could very well be seen as a difficult proposition. With gamers turned-off by either of the first two not likely to return and those still eager to jump into the new adventures crying-out for more, it would be an impossible task to please both parties.

Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge is somewhat of an unknown quantity to the masses, though those having followed the Jagged Alliance series will no doubt be aware of it’s existence.
