Electronic Theatre Preview: Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

24 May, 2005

Electronic Theatre ImageFire Emblem: Path of Radiance is a turn based role-playing strategy game, the first Fire Emblem title for the GameCube. At first I found it very difficult to get into, having not playing the Game Boy Advance predecessors, turn based games with lots of statistics confuse me slightly but after getting some expert help with what I had to do found it quite an enjoyable game to play.

Electronic Theatre Preview: Geist

24 May, 2005

Electronic Theatre ImageGeist for the GameCube has been long anticipated by many (including myself) and getting the chance to play it at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) was one of the highlights. Although they only let us play the multi-player rather than the main game (grrr…) it gave us all a good taste of what to expect before it (hopefully) hits our shores by the end of the year.

Electronic Theatre Preview: Dance Dance Revolution Mario Mix

23 May, 2005
By

Electronic Theatre ImageFinally, Konami have made a Dance game for the GameCube – with a classic Nintendo twist of course. Dance, Dance Revolution: Mario Mix is pretty similar to Konami’s other dancing games. For those not familiar with the Dance Revolution franchise there are four pads on a dance mat; forwards, backwards, left and right. You have to press these in the order they appear when they reach the marker, in time to the music. If you miss them it knocks down your beat meter, if that reaches zero its game over. Read More…

Electronic Theatre Preview: Killer7

22 May, 2005
By

Electronic Theatre Image            For a title that has managed to elude the media’s judgement since its original announcement, Killer7 will need little introduction to Nintendo fans. The basic premise of the title is that, through Harman Smith, players will control one of seven alter-egos each with varying abilities. While the storyline is still very heavily guarded (it appeared that occasional cut-scenes had been edited – either that or they make no sense anyway) the gameplay has now been demonstrated in its fullest. The controls are rather confusing at first; with the A button being used to run forward and B for 180degree turn. As you approach a new area the screen splits to allow you to choose a direction with the analogue-stick. While this may seem rather limiting to some it soon becomes apparent that the reason you can’t explore the corridor is that there’s clearly no need to.

Electronic Theatre Image            Having been in delay-hell for what seems to be, well, forever, StarCraft: Ghost now appears to be reaching completion. Each build Blizzard have decided to show us has appeared as an increasingly solid title, and the preview build at this years Electronic Entertainment  Expo (E3) certainly appears to be very promising title.

Electronic Theatre Preview: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

21 May, 2005
By

Electronic Theatre Image            Nintendo are back on form, proving once again that it is not the Final Fantasy series, nor the Dragon Quest franchise that dominates the RPG genre, but The Legend Of Zelda. Having been able to sneak nearly an hours worth of play out of the four sections available (with the average visitor only being allowed a single 15 minute play) I can honestly say that there is nothing at the show that has impressed me quite as much as The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess. After dabbling with horse-back fighting, helping monkey-pals in the Forest Temple and discovering the amazing Gale Boomerang, I was left speechless – and desperately trying to find some clean underwear…
