Valve’s Left 4 Dead released last year to an incredible amount of praise from the critics, and respect in the form of commercial success from the public. That Downloadable Content (DLC) was set to arrive was never in question, but the options that lie before the developer are almost endless. Undoubtedly, legions of the game’s fans worldwide would be happy to pay for additional Campaigns, characters, gameplay modes and weaponry, and so it came as quite a shock when the company revealed that the first DLC package would in-fact be completely free.

The second Downloadable Content offering for FallOut 3 is now available on the XboxLIVE! Marketplace, after a somewhat stuttered arrival. Corrupted files and the politics of digital distribution aside, a second spend of 800 Microsoft Points, on top of the original retail purchase and most likely the Operation Anchorage Downloadable Content (also 800 Microsoft Points) is beginning to make FallOut 3 look like a particularly expensive proposition; but for a game that performs so well in it’s own right, surely every opportunity for more should be grabbed?
