Electronic Theatre ImageUK website The Average Gamer today launches a brand new London based event, The Gaming Den. Gamers are invited to attend the first in a series of live sessions beginning today, 23rd February 2013, as fans, avid spectators and cosplayers gather under the same roof to experience new and classic videogames.

Gamers will come together and compete on the newly-released thriller Aliens: Colonial Marines, from SEGA and Gearbox Software, and relive their youth with the retro gaming room which offers classicElectronic Theatre Image consoles and videogames, such as GoldenEye 007 on Nintendo 64, Power Stone 2 on the Dreamcast, the original Tekken on PlayStation and more highlights from the past.

Images and effects from Aliens: Colonial Marines will cover the walls from floor to ceiling, and the sound system will echo through The Gaming Den to create the perfect Sulaco atmosphere. Gamers can relax by the bar or compete in a tournament to win a Collector’s Edition of the game courtesy of SEGA.

“Videogames are at their best when played with friends,” said Debbie Timmins, Editor of The Average Gamer. “Let’s take games out of the living room and really show them off. We’ve created a public arena where people who love games can hang out, meet others, share their nostalgia and get involved. That and the xenomorphs are freaking terrifying when they’re crawling up the walls. You’ve got to see it on the big screen.”

The Gaming Den is open to the public, with tickets priced at £6 entry on the door and access to all areas. The event takes place today, 23rd February, from  4pm – 11pm at The Visual Collective,10 Vyner Street, London E2 9DG. Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with any future ventures from our friends at The Average Gamer.
