This is no ordinary life you’re living, but then there’s nothing that could be called ‘ordinary’ about Saint’s Row IV.

Jumping into the videogame very near the start – though avoiding dropping the bomb of how the player becomes president – the first task is to stabilise public opinion. Something’s gone wrong: your advisors warn you that you’ve alienated halfElectronic Theatre Image the country and the press are hounding for your blood. Diplomacy is your greatest asset as you attempt to calm the feuding waters between a nation and it’s government. Or at least it would be, if this wasn’t Saints Row. And Saints Row IV is most definitely Saints Row, so instead of managing your resources and coming up with an economic solution we have blasting seven shades of grey out of the alien hordes.

A press conference that goes horribly wrong sees two of your best taken out of action, and before you have a chance to react the invaders have gone. Straight to the Oval Office to pull out the bug guns, then. There’s a few bad dudes between you and your destination, but of course, as lead of the Saints you never go anywhere without packing heat. A few tidy headshots and you’re home free, ready to appreciate the finer things in life: such as a conversion that hosts dozensElectronic Theatre Image of gun racks in one of America’s most famous buildings. Within minutes you’re running down hallways blasting dozens of aliens with a handy RPG. If you were still in doubt, Saints Row IV is most definitely Saints Row.

Moments later you’re sitting in a huge mounted turret on the south side of the Whitehouse firing upon waves of enemy battleships. Emerging victorious, it’s time for a little rough-and-tumble with Zinyak, the big bad boss of the invaders. A QTE sequence sees you take the upperhand before Zinyak reveals his true power, leaving you bang out of luck. Waking up on some alien platform floating high above the city, things have changed. You have changed. Saints Row will never be the same.
