Right! I thought i better start a topic about this as its shaping up to be a great game and i would recommend any PC Gamer to give it a go!

Currently in Open Beta this Free to Play title is a new chapter in the Mechwarrior series. I wont say that it is without its issues, but its latest patch (23.1.13) has brought the game up to its most stable since Open Beta started. It still has some bugs which should be getting sorted but to be perfectly honest i have spent time going through the forums and i haven’t experienced half the problems that other people say are “ruining” the game for them.

Set on a 1 to 1 timeline in the year 3050 with progression ebbing from the novels and previous titles and of course the BattleTech tabletop game PGI have certainly got their work cut out for them. In my opinion they have done a brilliant job in creating an immersive Mech Simulator (now with Bitching Betty’s Start-Up Sequence!!)

To any who wish to start up,
    - First register at http://www.mwomercs.com
    - Then head over to the training grounds, http://mwomercs.com/game/training-grounds – this is essential even for people who have played Mechwarrior titles. This game can be mighty confusing and you will get dead very quickly if you end up walking into walls :P
    - Get on the forums, there is so much useful information to help new players you’d be a fool to skip it.
    - Have fun!

If anyone does play, wants to play. My pilot name is Hellboy561. See you in the drop zone.

Thought i better post something up on here seeing as in the past 2 months MWO has come on leaps and bounds.

In the past two months two new maps have been released, Alpine Peaks and Tourmaline Desert. Both are MASSIVE, and i do mean massive. But this is going to be epic when 12v12 is released!

New mechs are up and running, the next mech to be released will be the Highlander (yay!) with the Hero variant (its pink!!) already appearing in videos and on the MWO Homepage.

They have gone against some values which i do not agree with, but the game is definatly not pay to win, as you can’t buy skill! Coolant flush was added into the game, so you can now buy one off “modules” to reduce you heat once per match, once you use it, its gone and must be repurchased. I haven’t really noticed this being a game changer, but it can make the difference in certain circumstances so it is allowed! lol.

The uproar on the forums over this matter was fantastic, and the developers we’re quick to take the idea back to the drawing board to ensure that the community was happy with what was going to be released, (if only they done that with ECM) The improvements that we’re made after this forum rage actually improved the coolant flush and it is definatly not an essential part of every mech, so therefore i do not believe it to be pay to win.

On the side of game stability, there are still some technical issues, for example it would boot me off whenever it dropped me on the new map for the first couple of days when it came out, but i haven’t had that problem since. State rewind for energy weapons had a relook and is now working alot better, can’t wait for them to sort out balistics though!

Oh and how did i forget!! Last patch, god knows what they did but Missiles were brutal!! It was hilarous! But this was hotfixed and missile damage has been beaten with the nerfbat until the devs managed to work out the splash damage issue. This has caused some anger on the forums, but you can’t please everybody!!

Well i think this post has gone on for long enough, i will try to remember to update this a bit more often and keep people informed!
