The award-winning studio The Creative Assembly has announced that the next instalment of downloadable content (DLC) for the critically acclaimed Empire: Total War will be available from today. Elite Units of the East is the fourth DLC expansion released for Empire: Total War, following the successful additions of Elite Units of the West, Elite Units of the America and The Warpath Campaign.

The Elite Units of the East DLC for Empire: Total War adds twelve new elite units to the Maratha and Ottoman factions of Empire: Total War. Empire: Total War expands further East than any previous Total War game and this DLC includes the very best units from the Eastern lands. Most of these soldiers' expertise developed on the battlefield - some are fearsome brigands, others of them are drawn from a strong academic background, learned warriors. They will provide a vast array of tactical options: intimidating and cowing your enemies.

Empire: Total War launched in March 2009, and was met with great critical acclaim and retail success, taking the top spot in the UK all-format sales charts after just one week of availability. Electronic Theatre delivered an in-depth review of Empire: Total War upon it’s European launch, stating that, “Finding an equal to Empire: Total War will be challenging, but finding a superior title would be nigh-on impossible.”

The Total War series will receive a new instalment very soon, Napoleon: Total War, but in the meantime there’s no doubt fans of the series will appreciate another dose of additional content for Empire: Total War.
