Wii Sports Resort, the next chapter in the Wii Sports phenomenon which got millions of people up off the sofa and competing in their living rooms, launches across Europe this Friday, 24th July. Nintendo have recently announced a series of tour dates to accompany the launch, at which audiences can try the game for themselves.

Wii Sports Resort introduces a whole new era of motion controls with twelve resort themed sports enhanced by the Wii MotionPlus; a small accessory which plugs into the base of your existing Wii Remote, to bring exacting precision to games that are specifically designed for it. Wii MotionPlus recognises the slightest twist or turn of the Wii Remote to give players an unprecedented level of control.

Following its launch in Japan on 25th June, data from MediaCreate in Japan showed that 359,690 units of Wii Sports Resort were sold in just 4 days and total sell through Electronic Theatre Imageestimates topped 500,000 in the 2nd week and 600,000 in the 3rd week on sale. Also a similar number of Wii MotionPlus accessories have been sold (in addition to those that come bundled with the software) which shows that Wii Sports Resort is being enjoyed amongst family and friends.

Watersports fans will love the thrills of power cruising, wakeboarding, canoeing whether playing solo or with friends. Archery by contrast, will test your skill and precision to the max. Cycling fanatics should hop straight on to a bike for a tour around Wuhu Island or why not take a look at Wuhu Island from the skies in air sports. If it’s all out competition you want this summer, then try your hand at swordplay, table tennis, basketball, bowling and Frisbee or indulge in some golfing rivalry on the all-new greens created for the game.

Sun, sea, sand and sports: Wii Sports Resort has everything you need this summer. See what the fuss is about on 24 July, when it launches across Europe, bundled with the brand new Wii MotionPlus accessory, only on Wii.
