If you have been wondering what the new game offers in comparison to previous releases, then here is a list that will whet your appetite before you purchase the game.
1. The most anticipated new feature:
While Mario Tennis enthusiasts have been waiting for the latest tennis instalment for a wide variety of reasons, the one thing that everyone has been hankering for is the game’s online feature. The latest instalment will allow players to compete online with like-minded aficionados. The online play consists of monthly leader boards that can be dominated through competitive and cooperation modes. There is also the matter of victory medals that add ammunition for players who like bragging rights.
2. Customisation makes for a wonderful new obsession:
The online play of this latest tennis instalment of Mario is further supplemented by Streetpass which will allow players to exchange Mii data. Once the data has been exchanged, the players can then compete with each others’ Mii avatars. Other players’ Mii avatars can even be used in single player modes and this adds the extra sense of novelty to the game. Furthermore, the Mii characters can also be customised in extreme detail and shown off through items that can only be acquired through the competition of various stages of the single player campaign.
3. New characters as always:
As is the tradition with all Mario games, the latest tennis instalment also boasts of various new characters apart from everyone’s favourite plumber from the Mushroom Kingdom. These new characters include Luma, Baby Mario and Dry Bowser. While some of these characters can be unlocked through natural gameplay and finishing of highlighted modes, others can be unlocked through QR codes that can be found online.
4. The special new mode for a special new twist:
Finally, the latest version Mario tennis series also has a very unique new mode that players can try their hands at. This new mode has been titled the Ink Showdown by the powers that be. The Ink Showdown mode will add a new twist to the game in the form of ink blasts fired at the players’ characters from the back of the court. In essence, while the players would have to focus on defeating their opponents in the normal game of tennis, they would have to do so by simultaneously navigating these ink blasts.
In a nutshell, this latest tennis variant from the world of Mario takes the whole franchise to another level, if not for the gameplay being unique then for the way the game world has been created in an innovative manner.
