Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) has tonight unveiled the PlayStation 4 console, their next-generation videogames console. Featuring live demos and a brand new controller, with the PlayStation 4 SCE are not pulling their punches.
The details of the PlayStation 4, being revealed at an ongoing presentation in New York, SCE has officially confirmed some important details of the console. Designed to harness the power of modern PCs, the PlayStation 4 console utilises X86 processor technology along with a specialised GPU (specifications not yet revealed). In addition, the console will include 8GB of GDDR5 RAM as standard. SCE suggest that this will eliminate the present need to wait for OS to boot and save data to load.
The first footage showcased to promote the console was a real-time video sequence using Unreal Engine 4. More impressive however, is the brand new IP, Knack. A cartoon-esque action videogame, the player is cast as a secret weapon in the human arsenal as they defend against a nefarious looking enemy.
More details on the PlayStation 4 console will be forthcoming over the next few hours and beyond, and Electronic Theatre will of course keep you updated with all the latest details.
