Following on from their BAFTA winning success with Professor Layton and the Curious Village, Nintendo have been showcasing the second game in the series at this years’ Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box exclusively on Nintendo DS. With the first title still performing strongly at UK retail – a brand new bundle set for release on Friday, 12th June – it’s not surprising that a European release is yet to be confirmed.

The highly-anticipated sequel plays much like its predecessor. Each new storyline is introduced with an animation and more voice over than the original though there is still quite a lot of reading to be done. The animation leads the player into a plethora of puzzles, one hundred and fifty to be more precise! There will also be an additional thirty-three downloadable puzzles, one a week following launch to keep fans occupied for months to come.

Though, as stated above, a European release is yet to be confirmed, Electronic Theatre certainly wouldn’t dismiss the idea of Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box arriving in PAL territories before the years’ end, and certainly by Easter 2010. As ever, Electronic Theatre will keep you posted.
