Electronic Theatre ImageFollowing the successful implantation of cross-platform multiplayer videogames between the official Xbox website and Windows Phone 7, Microsoft Studios has taken the asset one step further. As part of the recent redesign of the official Xbox website, bringing it inline with the Xbox 360 dashboard update, a whole new Xbox LIVE Web Games section was promised. Now, that new content has been delivered.

Currently available are four popular titles, including three from the critically acclaimed casual videogame developer PopCap Games. At present, Plants Vs. Zombies, Bejeweled 3, Zuma’s Revenge and Text Twist 2 are all available Electronic Theatre Image to play for free. However, they are essentially demo versions, with a number of features locked-out, including the ability to save your progress. A disappointing constraint, especially considering mobile versions of all of these videogames already exist, raising a question as to what the exact point of the Xbox LIVE Web Games service is.

Interested parties can find all four videogames and the Xbox LIVE Web Games service available at the official Xbox website, Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with any new additions to the Xbox LIVE Web Games service.
