Square Enix has today announced a partnership with Danish studio Reto-Moto for the global launch of Heroes & Generals. A new, innovative online multiplayer videogame set during World War II, Heroes & Generals is a combination of first-person shooter (FPS) and strategy gameplay.
In Heroes & Generals, players can choose to play the role of hero, fighting on the frontline on-foot and in a variety of vehicles including tanks and warplanes, or they can assume the responsibility of general, to ensure troops and combat resources are best placed to outwit the opposing army.
“Heroes & Generals blends two gaming genres to create a great, new experience, with multiple ways to play. It’s tailor-made for today’s gamers and we’re extremely excited to work alongside Reto-Moto to bring this to market as a Free2Play game delivered via the browser,” said David Guldbrandsen, General Manager of Hapti.co, Square Enix’s new studio in Copenhagen focusing on browser games.
“A partnership with Square Enix is the best thing that could happen for Heroes & Generals and will help us reach a huge audience and ensure we can deliver more content, faster,” said Peter Fleckenstein, Co-founder of Reto-Moto. “We’ll continue to run a community driven development, and the trinity of Square Enix, Reto-Moto, and our community will make Heroes & Generals an incredible game that many gamers will play for years to come”.
Developed by Reto-Moto, a Copenhagen-based studio who specialise in the creation of original online entertainment software, Heroes & Generals is available on PC and is currently in closed beta. There are also plans to enable tablet and smart-phone users to influence the ongoing war, and Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with all the latest details on Heroes & Generals.
