Square Enix Ltd. has today launched the official closed beta testing phase for the highly anticipated Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. The Windows PC edition of the videogame is available to play now, presenting a fully-redesigned, massively multiplayer online (MMO) adventure.
Closed beta players will be able to try out the new Full Active Time Events, or “FATE,” as part of the new gameplay system. Players can participate in these randomly occurring events by simply being within proximity of the event, without the needto form parties. To assist players with quickly and easily assessing their gaming PC’s hardware and performance, Square Enix has made the new Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn benchmark software available as a free download at the benchmark site.
The new “Exploration” trailer, composed entirely of real-time footage, captured from the official benchmark can be viewed below. Additionally, the new, custom-designed gamepad UI is introduced by Producer and Director, Naoki Yoshida, in the Developer’s Commentary Video, “Gamepads,” also available below.
