Paradox Interactive has released a free demo version of the recently launched The Showdown Effect. The new multiplayer action title from Arrowhead Game Studios, released earlier last week, throws players into a battle for survival, placing them in the roles of 1980s action hero archetypes armed with a terrifying pile of weapons.
The focus of The Showdown Effect is in recreating the outrageous action found in classic action movies and taking them one step further. Players can pick weaponry from the silver screen’s unparalleled arsenal, including shotguns, frying pans, lightsabers, assault rifles, grenades, katanas, gauss guns and anything in between. No explosion is too loud and no bullet dodge is implausible – The Showdown Effect is all about impaling your friend with nearby broomstick and dropping a “Stick around” taunt as you jetpack heroically off to the next enemy.
The demo version allows players to access the videogame’s training stage – a singleplayer mode – as a means to get familiar with the controls before they take on live action heroes in the retail version.
