Dutch indie studio Vlambeer and Devolver Digital recently announced that the fast-paced and exceptionally stylish Luftrausers has been cleared for takeoff on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita this spring. This follows the announcement of the PC, Mac and Linux editions, set for release soon.
Luftrausers is a massive evolution of Vlambeer’s 2011 browser videogame, Luftrauser, in which you control the most incredibly agile aircraft ever piloted in dogfights over the open sea. Luftrausers features one hundred and twenty five different combinations of plane guns, bodies, and engines for gamers to control in over one hundred frantic missions set against a stylish crimson and cream sky teeming with enemy aircraft.
“The PlayStation team is full of Vlambeer fans so we’re absolutely delighted to see Luftrausers launch on PlayStation platforms,” said Shahid Ahmad, Senior Business Development Manager, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE). “Vlambeer’s unmistakable style and wonderful attention to detail will most certainly shine on the PlayStation 3 and [PlayStation Vita].”
Developed by Vlambeer, creators of the critical darling Ridiculous Fishing, co-founder Rami Ismail had this to say, “We’ve had a great time working with Sony on previous projects and we’re glad to finally announce that we’re working with them again. It was kind of a no-brainer that Luftrausers would be a perfect fit for the systems and we’re delighted to say that our screenshake translates really well to both a TV and the Vita.”
Luftrausers will also be available this spring on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita as well as PC, Mac, and Linux via Steam and other digital download services for £6.99 GBP. Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with all the latest details on Luftrausers and other forthcoming titles from Vlambeer and Devolver Digital.
