Over the past week Ubisoft has been contacting members of their Uplay service and asking them to participate in a survey with one specific goal: discovering exactly what gamers are expecting of the next-generation of videogame entertainment. The publisher has already revealed a number of next-generation titles, including the highly anticipated Tom Clancy’s The Division, but new projects are always being sought, and Ubisoft are keen to ensure that they get it right this time around.
The survey begins rather earnestly, asking your sex and age and assuring you that all answers will remain confidential. However, it’s not long until Ubisoft get to the meat of the matter: what videogames you play, own and are looking forward to. Covering both software and hardware, the survey enquires as to your existing knowledge of established franchises and the upcoming entries therein, as well as new consoles. Perhaps most interestingly, the survey tasks the participant about the Xbox One’s change in online policy more deeply than any other area.
Exactly what the results of this survey will be used for – if anything at all – is anyone’s guess at present. However, if one had to guess, the suggestion of console specific features would hint towards format exclusivity either for additional content or even entire releases. Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with any further developments on this survey and other research activities from Ubisoft.
