XSEED Games has officially launched the next chapter in the Corpse Party series of horror titles, Corpse Party: Book of Shadows, now available for download from the PlayStation Network. Corpse Party: Book of Shadows is the sequel to 2011’s Corpse Party, and is available for the PlayStation Portable (PSP) and PlayStation Vita now.

Telling the tale of a group of Japanese high school students trapped in an alternate reality, Corpse Party: Book of Shadows tells a series of short stories that help develop many of the characters introduced in the first videogame and explores some hypothetical scenarios, finally answering those “What if they survived?” questions. A horrifying blend of adventure gameplay and visual-novel style presentation, Corpse Party: Book of Shadows was developed and published by 5pb in Japan, with supervision and input from original Corpse Party developer Team GrisGris.

In Corpse Party: Book of Shadows, players will be thrown back in time to relive the horrific events that unfolded when they were thrown into another reality after visiting the condemned site of Heavenly Host. Armed with the knowledge gained during their first nightmarish trip in the original Corpse Party, players will be given an opportunity to change the fates of the game’s characters this time around. But is this second chance a blessing or a curse? Can the destiny of these unfortunate souls truly be altered, or will the attempt simply lead to an even more gruesome conclusion? Once again, “wrong ends” lurk around nearly every corner, amplified by binaural 3D audio effects and the chilling original Japanese voice track.

Corpse Party: Book of Shadows, from XSEED Games, is now available exclusively on the PlayStation Store for the PSP and PlayStation Vita in Europe. The game has been rated PEGI 16 and is priced at £11.99 GBP. Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with all the latest details on Corpse Party: Book of Shadows, including an in-depth review coming soon.
