Along with a much talked about playable showcase at the ongoing Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, development studios Minority has revealed some brand new details on their forthcoming PlayStation 3 exclusive title, Papo & Yo. Set for release later this year, Papo & Yo is a 3D puzzle-platform adventure that will launch on the PlayStation Network as a digitally distributed title.
Papo & Yo is about a young boy named Quico and his best friend Monster, a huge beast with razor-sharp teeth and a very dangerous problem: an addiction to poisonous frogs. The minute Monster sees one hop by he scoffs it down and flies into a violent, frog-induced rage where no one is safe. And yet, Quico isn’t afraid… he loves his Monster and wants to save him.
As Quico, players will build their friendship with Monster by solving puzzles together and adventuring through a magical, surrealist world. Players will need to learn to use Monster’s emotions, both good and bad, to their advantage if they want to complete their search for a cure and save their pal.
Quico, Monster and the world of Papo & Yo were inspired by the childhood of Minority’s Creative Director, Vander Caballero. Drawing on his experiences growing up in South America with an abusive, alcoholic father, Caballero, formerly Design Director at EA Montreal, aims to tell a truly authentic, personal story through Papo & Yo. Papo & Yo will be available later this year exclusively for PlayStation 3, and Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with all the latest details on this highly anticipated videogame.
