Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today announced that the cumulative sales of the PlayStation 3 reached a milestone of 30 million units across Europe and the PAL territories as of 17th December 2012, demonstrating the continued popularity and momentum of the PlayStation 3 videogame platform.
“This is a major milestone for us and clearly shows just how popular the PlayStation brand and products are within Europe and the PAL territories”, said Jim Ryan, President and CEO of SCEE. “We are really pleased with the success of the PS3 system over the last six years, and are committed to continuing our support of the platform with high quality products and titles that are of the caliber that PlayStation fans have come to expect.”
PlayStation 3 has delivered high quality, award-winning entertainment experiences since its launch. Throughout its lifecycle, PlayStation 3 has evolved to become a real cornerstone of the family living room delivering classic titles like LittleBigPlanet and Gran Turismo to the recently launched Wonderbook: Book of Spells. The state of the art system has become the entertainment hub of many homes allowing families to play together and also enjoy a great range of movies, TV series and music directly from their system.
In September 2012, SCEE launched a new PlayStation 3, featuring a new design and a downsized form factor. In October 2012, SCEE redesigned PlayStation Store for PlayStation 3, offering a more streamlined and accessible store experience, including a stunning new user interface, simple search, and powerful content discovery. SCEE will continue to further expand the PlayStation 3 platform and Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with all the latest details.
