Today, Nintendo has revealed their financial results for the year ending 31st March 2013, and amongst them are some interesting details. A detailed analysis of Nintendo’s comprehensive release would reveal exactly that which Electronic Theatre has championed over the past few years – that Nintendo has a winning strategy, despite outward appearances – but perhaps more interesting is the revelation of several titles set to appear within the current financial year. Most notably, Mario Kart for the Wii U console.
“Based on the strong lineup of upcoming software titles for both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U systems, Nintendo expects to return to Operating Income profitability by the end of the current fiscal year.” States the press release. “During the next several months, Nintendo expects to launch new titles in the Mario Kart (Wii U), Super Mario Bros. (Wii U), Wii Fit (Wii U), Pikmin (Wii U), The Legend of Zelda (Wii U and Nintendo 3DS), Mario & Luigi (Nintendo 3DS) and Pokémon (Nintendo 3DS) franchises.”
Few of these titles will come as a surprise, but what is worthy of note is the fact that Nintendo has confirmed that they will be available within the ‘the next several months’ suggesting a release in the busy fourth quarter of 2013. This would undoubtedly be a good move, with some of the publisher’s biggest guns coming to support the Wii U during the currently expected launch window of both the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s next-generation system. Electronic Theatre will keep you updated as this story develops.
