Electronic Theatre ImageElectronic Arts are gracing the launch line-up of next-generation consoles with a number of different titles, including sports, driving and of course, first-person shooter (FPS) action. Battlefield 4 arrived on Xbox One in time for the console’s launch, and here in the UK managed to secure a spot in the top three selling titles on the new format.

Leading the pack was FIFA 14, another Electronic Arts title coming under the EA SPORTS brand, however this was likely buoyed by many console bundles included the videogame as standard. Microsoft Studios’ Forza Motorsport 5 – also offered in many bundles – came in second place and Battlefield 4 placed Electronic Theatre Imagethird without any hardware promotion. That the highly anticipated Ryse: Son of Rome didn’t rank in the top three is perhaps the biggest surprise of all.

Just as with its predecessor, the launch of Battlefield 4 is the start of a long campaign for Electronic Arts, incorporating huge additions to the keenly followed multiplayer gameplay component (see trailer below). Battlefield 4 Premium, an additional subscription based service, provides a wealth of new content including five themed digital expansion packs: Battlefield 4 China Rising, Battlefield 4 Second Assault, Battlefield 4 Naval Strike, Battlefield 4 Dragon’s Teeth and Battlefield 4 Final Stand. Battlefield 4 Premium will also receive access to each of these add-ons prior to their general availability via digital channels.

Battlefield 4 is available now for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox One formats. The videogame will also launch on PlayStation 4 later this week, and Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with all the latest details on the Battlefield videogame franchise.
