Much like the Kinect Fun Labs compendium’s Build A Buddy software, Bobblehead is offered as an additional free download outside of the start package. Still of a notable size, 206.01 MB to be precise, the need for Bobblehead’s weight isn’t quite as obvious as that of Build A Buddy, but it’s still free interactive entertainment, and it’s still enjoyable for all of it’s incredibly brief duration.

As with the similarity between Build A Buddy and Kinect Googly Eyes, Bobblehead is built upon the same foundations as the technology behind Kinect Me. Scanning your body and face in the same fashion as Kinect Me, players create a bobblehead image of themselves. The software Electronic Theatre Imageeven goes as far as to ask the exact same questions – sex before scanning, glasses and ponytail requirements after – as with Kinect Me, effectively making Bobblehead little more than a repackaging.

The new visual overhaul is attractive however, giving the player a dashboard upon which to place their bobblehead creations. Players can record a short speech sample during the creation process, which the bobbleheads will repeat whenever struck. It’s a small touch, but one that is welcome in its effort to differentiate Bobblehead from Kinect Me.

As would be expected, Bobblehead presents the same sharing options as each of the Kinect Fun Labs apps released so far: players can upload their creations to KinectShare.com, or better still, share them via the new Kinect Fun Labs Friend Feed. Here, players can interact with your creations to a much greater degree than online, but still limited compared to that of the creator.

As with the rest of the Kinect Fun Labs line-up, Bobblehead is far from essential. It’s an insight into the capabilities of the device; a sample of what can and most likely will be done in future retail packaged products, and nothing more. The pleasantly colourful aesthetics and simple premise makes Bobblehead just as welcome as the rest of the line-up, and given that the software is free, it’d be very hard to fault the entertainment value it offers.
