Microsoft have today confirmed the details of the forthcoming Dashboard Update, set to incorporate new social networking features into the Xbox 360’s growing line-up of multi-media services. From 17th November 2009, both Facebook and Twitter will be available via the Xbox 360 dashboard, helping you share the excitement of newly launched entertainment channels Zune Marketplace and last.fm.
Restricted to Xbox LIVE Gold subscribers, versions of Facebook and Twitter have been tailor-made to work beautifully on your television, so if you already hold an account just sign in and you’ll be instantly connected. Something new for Facebook
that only Xbox 360 can provide is a new service called Facebook Connect, allowing you to share your greatest gaming moments. Future versions of blockbuster games, such as EA’s Tiger Woods PGA Tour, let you take screenshots to upload.
Last.fm brings thousands of the world’s most popular recording artists to Xbox 360, and Xbox LIVE Gold subscribers can tune in to listen for free any time. Zune Marketplace will similarly revolutionise the way you access movies in High-Definition, with instant-play downloads in 1080p with 5.1 surround sound. On-demand movies stream instantly at the push of a button as soon as you wish upon being rented.
The Dashboard Update is set to arrive next Tuesday, November 17th 2009. Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with all the latest features available on the Xbox 360 console.
